About UWA Sushi & Grill
UWA Sushi & Grill, We are bringing a modern, luxurious, and elevated Japanese culinary experience to the area.
Located at 620 Foster St Ste E, Durham, NC 27701, UWA Sushi & Grill operates as a japanese serving Durham in North Carolina. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.
Portion sizes and pricing swing widely across this group, from a $10 lunch bowl to a multi-course tasting menu at an upscale sushi counter, so checking recent reviews and photos is more useful than the price range alone. In Durham, dinner reservations for popular izakaya, hot pot and Korean BBQ spots fill up on Friday and Saturday nights, so booking ahead or arriving at opening is worth it. Many restaurants across North Carolina run daily lunch specials on weekdays that are not listed on the dinner menu, so it is worth asking. Halal, vegetarian and gluten-free options vary a lot by kitchen; call ahead if you have a dietary restriction rather than assuming the menu will note it.
Hours are published for 6 days a week. Typical hours are 5β9:30 pm. Note that it does not open on Monday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (919) 237-1659. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. More information is available on its website, uwanc.com.

Durham is in North Carolina, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. Getting around Durham is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across North Carolina's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Went in a group of 4, we reserved ahead of time for a Sunday night but there were still some empty tables. We ordered drinks, appetizers, and main courses. Bulgogi spring rolls and edamame were great, even when we asked for non-spicy; especially the garlic brown butter on the edamame. I ordered the han-sang crispy pork belly mainly for the pork belly, but the sides were also great. Everyone else had sushi / bento box and raved about the flavor and quality. Presentation. This is not something that matters to me much, but ever serving bowl, utensil, even the water container were well done and fit with the esthetic. The prices on the menu might shock some people, but the quality makes it worth the price.

The food was amazing and such high quality! The atmosphere and service were also great! We got various appetizers and drinks, along with the Kona Roll, Negi Toro roll, and UWA roll, and everything was so yummy! Would definitely recommend and would love to come back!

The food was delicious, and the service was friendly. We particularly appreciated the menuβs focus on sushi while also incorporating some Korean flavors. The braised cod hansang and galbi were a hit with our Korean parents, and the sashimi was exceptionally fresh! The yuzu crepe cake was also delicious and had a subtle sweetness to it. Loved the meal and I look forward to coming back!

I found myself a little bit torn. Loved the menu. Good sushi options but also cold and hot small plates as well as some other main options. Very appealing choices. Loved the creativity and presentation of the dishes. Service was wonderful and knowledgeable. I enjoyed all of the dishes but wasnβt sure all were as good as they looked. The octopus was tough. Some of the dishes didnβt have as much flavor as I expected. I really enjoyed the sushi but would pick M Sushi over it and price point is no different. Still, it was a very nice dining experience and I certainly will look forward to giving it another try.

It's a new place that's still growing - but it's already fantastic. Compared to an average sushi place - about 10% more expensive for 1,000% higher quality. Lived in Manhattan for years, love trying new sushi places, and this is as good as anything I've seen. Excellent attention to detail in so many places - beautiful sushi rolls obviously, fun range of quality ingredients, the nicest chop sticks (quality wood for sushi + metal for pork & rice), chilled stone for both the sake cup & the soy sauce... Really nice spot.
